Trip plan

Day 1 — Nashik to Kolhapur

Drive to Kolhapur via Pune; evening Mahalaxmi darshan.

Day 2 — Kolhapur to Chitradurga

Drive into Karnataka; Chitradurga Fort in the evening light.

Day 3 — Bengaluru

On to Bengaluru — Lalbagh, Bangalore Palace, Vidhana Soudha and ISKCON temple.

Day 4 — Srirangapatna & Mysuru

Tipu Sultan's Srirangapatna, then Mysuru — Chamundi Hills and the Brindavan Gardens fountains.

Day 5 — Mysuru to Ooty

Mysore Palace in the morning, then through Bandipur forest up to Ooty.

Day 6 — Ooty

Botanical Garden, Ooty Lake and Doddabetta peak; a ride on the Nilgiri toy train to Coonoor.

Day 7 — Ooty to Chitradurga

Down the ghats and north across Karnataka.

Day 8 — Chitradurga to Kolhapur

Drive back to Kolhapur.

Day 9 — Kolhapur to Nashik

The drive home to Nashik.

Good to know: Mysore Palace is lit up on Sunday evenings and public holidays. Nilgiri toy train tickets sell out early — book well in advance. Carry warm clothes for Ooty.
